Our Legacy

Jyoti Vidyapith was established on March 13, 1987, with the aim of serving the community by strengthening the foundation of mother tongue education and nurturing the new generation to become complete individuals. Later, it was renamed Golap Chandra Misra Memorial Education Center, Jyoti Vidyapith, on a permanent basis. The original managing committee, with its 37 years of experience, continues to manage the institution efficiently.

Institution Infrastructure

As an Assamese-Medium school, Jyoti Vidyapith is complete in itself to beat any scale of comparison with the respective schools of other equivalent mediums. The institution is well equipped with a three-storey tuition-building, a computer-lab, a library with well-spaced reading room, a museum, a science-lab, a playground, an auditorium as well as office rooms. The school owns its own DG to ensure that lack of electricity does not hinder our everyday teaching-learning process. The campus is well surrounded by strong boundary to ensure safety and each classroom is equipped with proper disaster-management tools.

Medium of Education

Along with many an esteemed academic scholars of the world, UNESCO itself has approved that the mother-tongue is the best medium of education for a child. Complying with this amicable opinion, Jyoti Vidyapith has proudly adapted to the use of Assamese language as the medium of education for the students.

Emphasis on English Language

The world has turned into a global village. Science and technology are the prime impetus of this new era. This new age demands our students to be moulded to become the global-citizens of the future. The English language is a part and parcel in attaining that need. Therefore, the institution has laid tremendous importance on the study of English language. Through the practice of Spoken English, we try to improve our students' English speaking capabilities.

School Curriculum

We incorporate the same importance in the teaching of both English and Hindi languages in our classrooms. The curriculum recommended by Assam Samagra Shiksha Mission is followed from class 1 to 8. The elective subjects offered in class 9 and 10 are Hindi, History, Advanced Mathematics, Computer Science and Geography. The study of computer science is made compulsory from class 2 to class 8. With our best experienced and qualified tutors, Spoken English has also been added in our curriculum from 2016.

Library Facilities

With a splendid edifice, Jyoti Vidyapith has a rich library. Around 7000 Books on literature, culture, science, social science, religion, career guide, information-technology, history, geography, educational-psychology etc. have been garnered in the library. Provision for issuing or reading of books are available throughout the week. It is mandatory for our students that they should inculcate the habit of reading books in the library.

Student Examinations

The examination pattern per year consists of four unit-tests, one half-yearly and an annual test. The schedules of each examinations are pre-mentioned in the school's academic-calendar. The calendar contains the precise planning of an academic-year of the institution. The school offers a rich platform for the students by conducting and managing various talent-search examination.

With time, keeping relevance to the students' syllabus, we changed our trips relating to environmental studies. Places like Lachit Moidam, Gibon Sanctuary, Rainforest Research Institute have been our most popular destinations.

School Magazine - Jyotishman

Another academic attempt in promoting the literary development among the students is the school's wall-magazine entitled Kishalay.
